Days

Day 1 : Arrival Tunisia (D)

• Arrival at the Airport Tunis Carthage. • Assistance and welcome by our guide then visit of the Medina of Tunis or Sidi Bou Said. • Transfer to the hotel in Tunis. • Check-in, dinner, and accommodation

Day 2 : Bardo Museum/Medina Tunis/Carthage/Sidi Bou Said (B, L, D)

• After breakfast, depart to visit the Bardo Museum (30-minute drive). One of the finest archaeological museums in the Mediterranean, particularly renowned for its fine collection of mosaics. • The museum is housed in a former palace belonging to the Beys, rulers of Tunisia. • Continuation to the medina of Tunis. (15 min drive). • Continue to the Medina: we'll see the "old Tunisia", which includes the Medina, the "European" quarter built in the early 20th century, and the new modern suburbs. • Visit the souks and colorful local markets. • Discover the exquisite crafts of Tunisian artisans in the souks and experience Tunisia's rich traditions and cultural heritage. • Lunch in the restaurant Foudouk Al Attarine in the medina or Chinese restaurant QIAN HOUSE. • Continuation to Carthage (30mindrive). • Visit Carthage, (UNESCO World Heritage Site) the capital of the ancient Carthaginian Empire. • A panoramic visit of the Cathedral (from the outside) and the Byrsa hills to see the ruins of Roman buildings and the Tophet, where urns containing the ashes and milk teeth of 8thcentury BC children have been unearthed. • Visit Antonine Baths, a huge Roman bath complex on the edge of the Mediterranean. • Proceed to Sidi Bou Said. ( 10 min Drive) • Continue to Sidi Bou Said, and stroll through the narrow streets of Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque small town bordered by white-washed houses with blue shutters and doors. • Visit Le Baron D’Erlanger Palace, which was built by a European who fell in love with the village in 1912, the Baron Rodolphe d’Erlanger transformed it into a museum, he was a French painter and musicologist, specializing in North African and Arabic music. • Visit Dar El Annabi which was originally built near the end of the 18th century. In the 20th century, it was redeveloped as a summer resort for Taib El Annabi, son of Mufti Mohamed Annabi. It is now a museum showing the typical Islamic architecture on the outside and the atmosphere and lifestyle of a traditional Tunisian family on the inside. Visitors can go inside and explore the private library, prayer hall, lounges, bedrooms, the Andalusian garden, and terraces that offer a view of the surrounding terraces. • After the visit, return to the hotel. • Dinner, and accommodation.

Day 3 : Tunis/The Family Reserve Ben Ismail/Dougga/Kairouan (B, L, D)

After breakfast, check out and depart to Thuccabor(1h30 min drive), The Ben Ismail Family Reserve is in Thuccabor, in Medjez El Bab in the governorate of Béja around an archaeological site from Roman times, the remains of a triumphal arch bear witness to this it is an area of 50 hectares where about 5000 feet of olive trees are cultivated offering a picturesque landscape • Visits are offered, enriched by marked educational hikes in the olive grove to understand this millennial tree's specificities better. • A visit to the oil mill and the farm is essential to discover the different farms • An initiation session to oil tasting, in the newly renovated room, completes the whole thing • Also, the reserve will offer the guests the typical culinary riches of the region. In addition, a shop is available to visitors where the estate's olive oil is displayed and sold, as well as all Triumph products. • Proceed to Dougga (61 Km = 1H drive). • Continuation to Dougga and visit one of the biggest and best-preserved of all the Roman sites in Africa. • Dougga was a thriving town for several hundred years before the arrival of the Romans in the 2nd century AD, but it was under them that it grew and prospered. There is an impressively complete Theatre, with seats for 3.500 people. The road beyond leads to the splendid portico of the Capitoline Temple, which overlooks the Square of the Winds. Downhill from the Capitol is the sprawling ruin of the Baths of Licinius, which have a well-preserved central hall, bathing pools, service tunnels, and a hypocaust (under-floor heating) system. • Proceed to Kairouan (2h22min drive). • Installation in the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kairouan/Sbeitla/Tozeur (B, L, D)

After breakfast, check out and depart to : • Visit the Great Mosque of Uqba Bin Nafi, an important Islamic landmark and architecture that was built in the 9th century. • Visit the Aghlabiden pool, a real water reservoir for Saint City. • Visit the zaouia of SIDI SAHEB, known to be the prophet barber, home to the tomb of a companion of the Prophet, who, so they say, kept three hairs from the Prophet’s beard as a relic. • Visit the old town (la Medina) and have free time in the souks. The markets (souks), and streets dedicated to commerce, divided up according to the trades, buzz with constant activity. • Proceed to Sbeitla (1h30min drive). • Visit the Roman ruins of Sbeitla (02H00). One of the few ancient Roman cities that is famous not only for its strategic role but also for its politics and economy have played a major role during antiquity. • Lunch in a local restaurant. • Depart for Tozeur (02H00 driving = 170 Km): one of the most famous oases in the world which is surrounded by 200 springs. It is sheltered by a palm grove of more than 1000 ha –about 400.000 palm trees and world-renowned dates, also known as deglet nour which means “fingers of light”. • Check-in at the hotel, dinner, and accommodation.

Day 5: Canyon Mountain of Chebika, Tamerza/Ong Jmel/Tozeur (B, L, D)

• After breakfast, check-out and depart in 4X4 to visit: • the Mountain oasis of Chebika/Tamerza/Midès. • In Chebika, (53min drive) the refreshing water rushes over an imposing waterfall to form a wadi surrounded by palm trees at the bottom of a gorge. • Tamerza (18 min drive) looks barricaded by its mountain range as if suspended on the side of a vast canyon with commanding views over the vast plains as far as the Chott and the sand hills • Return in Tozeur and lunch in a restaurant. • In the late afternoon, depart to Ong Jmel with 4X4, the Star Wars place, Arabic for Camel Head is a sandstone formation that resembles the hump and head of a camel. The location was used for Star Wars: Episode I -The Phantom Menace, as well as for The English Patient. If you have watched the movie, you will recognize this place for sure! • Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.

Day 6 : Tozeur/Chott Djerid/Douz/Matmata/Sfax (B, L, D)

• After breakfast, check out and depart to Douz (2 hr Drive) via Chott Djerid “Salt Lake” and a quick stop for photos. • Douz is a small town that appears to be plopped down amidst the dunes that are known as the "gateway to the Sahara". In ancient times, it was an important stop on the trans-Saharan caravan routes. • 1 Hour Camel riding in the small dunes. • Proceed to Matmata (1H drive). • Explore its famous troglodytes, underground houses built to protect the Berbers from the intense heat in the summer. • Lunch in a troglodyte restaurant. • Visit the local troglodyte house of inhabitants. • Proceed to Sfax (203 Km = 3-hour drive). • Installation in the hotel, dinner and accommodation.

Day 7: Sfax/El Jem/Sousse/Hammamet (B, L, D)

After breakfast, check out and depart to El Jem (64Km = 1H14min drive) and visit the famous Colosseum –the largest in the world after those in Rome and Capua built by the emperor Gordian with around 230 ADS, it could seat 30.000 people and has witnessed many a glorious spectacle. • Proceed to Sousse (1hr10 min drive). • Visit Sousse: the capital of the Sahel, and visit the Medina declared World Heritage with its traditional souks. • Visit the Museum of Sousse. • Continue to Port el Kantaoui and have lunch in the Mediterranean restaurant or similar. • After lunch, proceed to Hammamet (1h30 min Drive). • Depart to Hammamet: Big seaside resort known for its orange trees and fine sand beaches. • Visit of the Old Medina: with waves sweeping against the ramparts and the imposing 15th Century fort, the Medina of Hammamet presents the visitor with the charm of its meandering streets where time seems to be at a standstill. Blue doors contrasting with the dazzlingly white walls guard the entrances to pretty boutiques and art galleries. • Check-in, dinner, and accommodation. Day 8: Hotel in Hammamet/Tunis Carthage Airport (B)
